Accommodation

Homelessness is a growing concern for all age groups whether it is males, females, families, youth, and people from different cultures.  When you don't have a roof over your head, all aspects of life suffer, including health, well-being, job prospects, self-esteem and self-worth.  Homelessness has reached epidemic proportions in South-East Queensland. The Hope Centre is an integral part of this and is essential.

The Foundation is Logan based but serves all South-East Queensland from Hervey Bay/Maryborough and Sunshine Coast in the north, Murgon, Kingaroy in the north-west, Stanthorpe, Gatton, Toowoomba and Esk in the west, Gold Coast and Hinterland including Beaudesert in the south and Moreton Bay, Capalaba, Wellington and Victoria Points in the east

 The Hope Centre

The Hope Centre is an initiative of Family and Kids-Care Foundation Inc. It is a nineteen (19) unit emergency accomodation, being built with purpose and versatility to accomodate individuals and families who are homeless.

Purpose

The Hope Centre will be part of a restoration and recovery program and provide help and support by looking for long-term sustainable housing. This emergency accommodation will be for between 8-12 weeks and education in the form of Life Skills will be taught (rent {priority} parenting, financial counselling, meal preparation, budgeting, housekeeping, job search skills etc) to 'break the cycle of poverty and homelessness"

Breaking the Cycle

  • The Foundations emergency accommodation will be for between 8-12 weeks.  While in residence the clients will be given education in the form of Life Skills to break the cycle of homelessness for themselves and future generations.

  • The clients will be shown the pathways of how to acquire rental bonds, look into real estate agents, understand the fundamentals of RTA, how to get off TICA and if owing rental bonds to the Department pay this off, because without a bond loan it is impossible to rent.

  • While at the HOPE Centre the clients will be able to save money and this will enable them to afford more sustainable housing and not get into the same difficult situation as previous.

  • "According to the Butterfly effect a small variation in a system may produce large variations in the future"
